About the Supervisor Support Model

As a supervisor or line manager you will know that your team’s performance can be affected by stress or sickness absence, and that these can be caused by a variety of factors. 

This course is designed to help you spot the signs of ill health in your team and how to make sure they get the help they need. You will be provided with a a number of links to external resources to refer to for yourself and your team, and we will cover the best way to talk to your supervisee and what to do next. 

Your own health is important too, so we will be looking at how to care for yourself when supporting someone else.

Please note: This course does not qualify you to diagnose mental health conditions but will assist you to support and sign post your staff to ensure that they stay well and get the help they need.

What is it?

A module-based psychoeducation course to help you understand basic mental health issues, how best to support someone and how to signpost them to professional help. We will also provide you with information on how to look after yourself.

Who is it for?

This course is for supervisors and line managers of officers and staff to assist you with supporting your staff should their mental health be affected by their work or other factors. 

What will you learn?

The course consists of one intro module, then eight subject modules which will cover the types of mental health conditions that colleagues may experience, signs and symptoms and how to best to support your supervisee. We will also cover topics such as assaults on staff and injury on duty, moral injury and embitterment and suicide.
