Policing and public service bodies

We are supported by and work with various agencies and organisations across the country to ensure that our approach is evidence based, and that we can direct you to sources of credible information.

The College of Policing was established in 2012 as the professional body for everyone who works for the police service in England and Wales. The purpose of the College is to provide those working in policing with the skills and knowledge necessary to prevent crime, protect the public, and secure public trust.

The College of Policing are the owners of the Blue Light Wellbeing Framework (BLWF) and now act as the central governance for the National Police Wellbeing Service (NPWS). They provide access to various guidance documents and toolkits via Oscar Kilo.

National Police Chief's Council

The National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC), brings police forces in the UK together to help policing coordinate operations, reform, improve and provide value for money.

Public Health England

Public Health England (PHE) supported us to build and develop Oscar Kilo in 2016. PHE was replaced by UK Health Security Agency and Office for Health Improvement and Disparities.

National Institute for Health and Care Excellence

The role of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is to improve outcomes for people using the NHS and other public health and social care services.

They do this by producing evidence-based guidance and advice for health, public health, and social care practitioners. Developing quality standards and performance metrics for those providing and commissioning health, public health, and social care services. Providing a range of information services across the spectrum of health and social care.

His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services

His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) independently assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of police forces and fire and rescue services – in the public interest.

They inspect, monitor and report on the efficiency and effectiveness of the police and fire and rescue services with the aim of encouraging improvement.

Royal Society for Public Health

The Emergency Services Hub provides access to resources for the three emergency services with the aim of sharing information, best practice and cooperation around public health.

The hub has been developed by the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, and key partner organisations from across the emergency services.
