Congratulations goes to Bear who is an OK9 top dog and his handler Claire Grey from South Yorkshire Police. In this article you will discover what Bear has been up to to deserve this honour.

In May this year, our OK9 wellbeing and trauma support dog team contacted South Yorkshire Police to see if they could support us and another force by attending The City of London Annual Family Fun Day with one of their OK9 dogs.

Although the request was received at short notice, Claire Gray and her lovable Fenway Labrador ‘Bear’ didn’t hesitate to volunteer their services and travelled to London to support the event.

The family fun day took place within the grounds of the Guildhall in the City of London on Saturday 20 May. The day was a fun packed occasion for everyone who attended, and clearly Bear was a huge success sharing his furry love with families.  It was a very busy day for Claire and Bear who both did South Yorkshire Police and our OK9 family proud.

Claire said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for Bear to experience trains, the underground and then the joy of being fussed and cuddled all day long, it was a fantastic day and a great experience to mix with another force and their families”.

Jo Westhead from City of London Police Federation said: It was really kind of Claire to travel all the way to London at such short notice, proving to be a wonderful addition to our day with a warm and infectious positive spirit. Dogs are always very popular with families, so it was a very busy day for Claire and Bear who did Oscar Kilo and South Yorkshire Police proud!

Well done Claire and Bear!
