Final chance to take the National Police Workforce and Wellbeing Survey 2026

We are delighted that record numbers of you have already taken the 2026 National Police Workforce and Wellbeing Survey.

If you haven’t shared your views yet, this is your last chance to help shape the future of wellbeing support across policing, as the survey closes on Monday 29 June.

The survey is quick, anonymous, and gives you a real opportunity to influence what support looks like moving forward. Every response counts, so please take a few minutes to get involved before it closes.

Staying safe from suicide

The death of any member of the policing family is a tragedy, and its effects are felt far beyond those closest to the person - across teams, friendships and the wider service. We have published new guidance to help forces do everything they can to support their people and reduce the risk of suicide.

'Staying safe from suicide: Principles, standards and guidance for the Police in England and Wales'  brings together evidence-based principles and practical standards to help forces structure their approach to suicide prevention and risk management. At its heart is a biopsychosocial framework - one that takes seriously the role that cumulative trauma exposure, operational stress and the culture of policing can play in the wellbeing of officers and staff.

Soft launch of brand new psychological health insight tool (PHIT)

PHIT is a short, confidential Occupational Health led questionnaire designed to help forces identify early signs of psychological strain in officers and staff, enabling the provision of support before issues develop into long-term illness.

Currently in soft launch with four pilot forces, PHIT replaces the previous psychological risk assessment approach by allowing forces to include any locally identified higher-risk roles using HEART risk assessment guidance.

Delivered through existing Occupational Health provision, PHIT maintains full medical confidentiality and does not require additional clinical staff. It provides individual follow-up where needed, alongside anonymised workforce insights to support prevention, planning and wellbeing initiatives.

Time's running out to enter the Oscar Kilo awards

We have already had quite a few entries for the 2026 Oscar Kilo Awards. If you are considering entering the closing date is 17 July 26.

These awards are your opportunity to recognise work that’s made a real difference to the wellbeing of officers, staff and volunteers across policing.

As part of our commitment to improving consistency and measuring progress across the service, all award entries must demonstrate how the work aligns with the Workforce Prioritisation Guidance (WPG). Entries will be cross‑referenced with your force’s WPG submission, helping us ensure that the work being recognised is connected to agreed priorities and forms part of your overall approach to wellbeing. If you plan to enter an award, please ensure your force WPG lead is aware of the submission. If you don't know who this is, please contact us and we can put you in touch.
