In this blog, Catherine Pritchard from Cheshire Constabulary talks about her breast cancer diagnosis and how she is supporting others.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer after discovering a small lump the size of a peppercorn.

Working at Cheshire Constabulary, I received some fantastic support from both the organisation and my colleagues.

To give back, when I returned to work, I hosted an online ‘Wellness Café’  where I was joined by officers and staff from Cheshire who had found themselves in a similar situation, or had a colleague, friend or family member who had received a cancer diagnosis. The conversation was an opportunity for me to tell others how I coped, what support I got and how I wanted to be and was treated by others and the organisation.

One in two of us will get cancer, this makes me feel compelled to take this further and am delighted that I now have an opportunity to open this conversation up to a wider audience and encourage a more positive attitude to returning to work and to inspire others.
