Overview

Psychological surveillance and structured interview training is part of the psychological support programme launched by Oscar Kilo, the National Police Wellbeing Service (NPWS).

It was designed to help police forces improve the mental health support offered to officers and staff when undertaking structured psychological interviews and preparing reports for employees and management.

Is this course for me?

Advanced Structured Interview training covers the following areas:

  • Refreshing your skills in undertaking Initial, Ongoing and Follow-up Structured Interviews

  • Determining how and when to use a referral screening questionnaire

  • Advanced awareness of skills in Structured Interviews and feedback sessions

  • Effective presentation of screening results with recommendations for management actions and interventions

  • How to commission and undertake research / evaluations which could be published or support an academic qualification

The training will provide the skills to undertake the interventions in your force or by exception and only in agreement with your force as part of mutual aid.

In order to successfully complete the training, delegates must attend for the full duration of the course.

There will obviously be some occasions when delegates have to leave the training early because of an emergency situation arising during the course.

In these circumstances, we will require the delegate to attend a future course to complete the training.

This is a one-day training course.

These courses regularly take place throughout the year and dates will be supplied directly to forces who have adopted this training.
